While reading my daily devotional today, I came across a question. It asked, “If today was your last day on earth before meeting Jesus face-to-face, how would you spend it?” I thought about this for a few minutes and came up with the conclusion that I would: make sure the people in my life know how much they mean to me, make sure they know how much they mean to God and how much God loves them. I would also repent, praise the Lord and thank Him for everything He has blessed me with. I would also spread His name with as many people as possible.
As I continued thinking about this, I realized that we should be doing these things everyday. We as humans are programmed to think that we have been given an entire lifetime but we don’t know what the future holds. We are not promised tomorrow. So if today was your last day on this earth, before meeting your savior, would you be pleased with who you are today? Who you were yesterday and the day before? Are you proud of your actions, words and your devotion to the Lord?
There are many things we procrastinate on in our daily lives. Perhaps we don’t always wash the dishes in a timely manner or maybe we never get to clean our car when we’d like. I’m just as much of a procrastinator as the next man, but what we are supposed to do for the Lord, CAN NOT wait. What if tomorrow was our last day? Would we be able to do everything for the Lord that we’d promised Him? Would we have enough time?
We all have a purpose. We each have a unique, meaningful story to share with others. His light should always shed through us – showing others what we are capable of doing, through Him. This is so important for us to understand here on this planet. I don’t want any of us to miss out on our purpose. Let us allow His light to shine through us onto others and let’s experience this life together.
